“Trust yourself. Think for yourself. Act for yourself. Speak for yourself. Be yourself. Imitation is suicide.” – Marva Collins

Hello All!

First of all, thank-you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to tune-in to my newly made blog! I have contemplated for 2 years about starting a blog, but I couldn’t quite build up the courage, due to fear of rejection and self-doubt. A part of me wanted to reserve the core of who I really am, while the other half pushed me to be a source of inspiration for other women just like me. I figured it was time for me to stop sitting on the gift that God has given me and use it to inspire, uplift, and connect with women of all walks of life. I believe that everyone is capable of blossoming into something great if they are given the opportunity and resources to do so. I realized that sometimes the biggest battle in life is the person in the mirror.

Over my 29 years of life, I have learned that in order for other people to “get you” or give you the level of respect that you deserve, you must first respect yourself and figure out who you really are. If I could use 5 words to define who I am, I would use the words strong, empathetic, nurturing, ambitious and guarded. Leila Sales once said, “Sometimes people think they know you. They know a few facts about you, and they piece you together in a way that makes sense to them and If you don’t know yourself very well, you might even believe that they are right, but the truth is, that isn’t you- that isn’t you at all.” I live by that quote because, at one point in my life, I didn’t know who I was or what my purpose was in life. Life hadn’t always treated me well, so I was good at covering up the wounds that weighed me down. It wasn’t always the load that weighed me down, it was the way that I carried it. Through my failures and experiences, I have blossomed into the woman I am today.

I will be here writing as an equal, as a resource, a sister and an advocate for you! I welcome feedback and I encourage you to engage! I strongly adhere to a safe, unbiased, encouraging, open, classy and free-spirited environment. Help me to help you, as we help each other. My blog will be all-inclusive, including topics on health, beauty, travel, parenting, mental wellness, fitness, personal issues…you name it! If there are any topics that you would like to discuss in the future as a driver of my posts, feel free to contact me or leave it in the comments section!
